Developed in 1912 by local real estate tycoon Walter Tuckerman who described the community as being for, “those of refined taste, demanding a better social atmosphere than surrounds the usual suburb...” Edgemoor is situated within easy walking distance to lively downtown Bethesda where boutique shopping, entertainment and fine dining may be enjoyed, yet its old fashioned neighborhood feel set it apart.

The community offers an eclectic blend of architecture along curving, leafy lanes lined with sidewalks. There are beautifully renovated and presented Georgians and Colonials as well as contemporary homes and published estates set on lot sizes ranging from under one quarter acre to over 1.5 acres.

Schools, such as the Lower School of Sidwell Friends and Bethesda Elementary are located in Edgemoor. The Edgemoor Club, which features social activities and tennis and swimming teams, is a neighborhood attraction.
